|

In this interview (in Portuguese) CLACLS Associate Director, Mila Burns talks with Jean Rodrigues (Rural Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) about the history of the Brazilian Communist Party from its beginnings in 1962 to its arrival in power in 2002.

Through a bibliographic approach to the history of communist parties and Brazilian left-wing movements, archival sources, and interviews with militants and former militants, the author established a dialog of its sources with the history of the Brazilian Communist Party, the society, and the international communist movement. By analyzing different documents, Rodrigues evidences the internal tensions in the implementation of the political project of the party in its long trajectory that swung between institutionalization and revolution.
